An NBA trade involving JaMychal Green first reported on June 13 finally happened on Thursday night as the Denver Nuggets sent the former Alabama standout to the Oklahoma City Thunder in deal involving one of the first-round draft picks.
Moments after the Thunder selected UCLA forward Peyton Watson with the 30th choice on Thursday night, Denver announced it had obtained him in a trade.
The Nuggets sent Green and an unspecified protected first-round pick to Oklahoma City for Watson and two unspecified second-round picks.
Since the initial reports about the deal, Green exercised his option for next season in his contract, clearing the way for the deal to go through. Green is scheduled to be paid $8.2 million for the 2022-23 campaign.
In his eighth NBA season, Green averaged 6.4 points and 4.2 rebounds while playing 16.2 minutes in 67 games for the Nuggets – his lowest averages since his first NBA season.
During his NBA career, Green has played in 487 regular-season games and averaged 7.9 points and 5.7 rebounds. He’s also played in 49 postseason games.
Green led St. Jude in Montgomery to AHSAA Class A championships in 2006 and 2008. He earned Alabama’s Mr. Basketball Award as a senior, when he also was a McDonald’s All-American.
